Description

A new must in Wendake!

Place Onywahtehretsih – (our ancient roots) – located at the western entrance to Old Wendake, invites visitors to take their place in the heart of Huron-Wendat myth and culture. Animal sculptures by artist Christine Siouis-Wawanoloath and will come to life in a new space. A flame, because fire is an important symbolic element, is also lit periodically in the center of this work.

An interpretation of the myth represented by this sculpture is available on mobile.

In the surroundings, you will find the Kabir-Kouba waterfall, two craft shops (Le Petit Huron Moc and Raquettes et Artisanat Gros-Louis), the linear park of the Saint-Charles river, the Sagamité restaurant and the Notre-Dame church. Dame-de-Lorette

Access: Onywahtehretsih Square is accessible free of charge.

 

Interpretation ($): A tour with a guide is available with the Esk8entesa discovery tour of the Huron-Wendat Museum in English and French.

Parking for the First Nations Hotel-Museum and the Huron-Wendat Museum. From the First Nations Hotel-Museum, you can follow the path of the moccasins to the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette Church, from there you will see the Onywahtehretsih square. (Parking reserved for customers of La Traite restaurant, hotel or museum)
